WHERE WE STARTED...

  • 1947Founded by three individuals: Stanley Doran, visually impaired since the seventh grade; Charles W. Medick, a Columbus auto dealer and father of a child who was blind; and Everett R. Steece, an administrator for the then Services for the Blind in Ohio 

  • 1950Chartered as a nonprofit organization

  • 1952Property at 625 W. Town St. was purchased for in-residence training and a small office

  • 1963Kennel on Stimmel Road was built, and housed 75 dogs

 

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...

  • 1978New wing of building was completed, doubling class capacity

  • 1995Puppy nursery was added to the kennel

  • 2005New administration building was added

  • 2017New kennel at 577 W. Town St. was completed

 

WHERE WE'RE HEADED...

  • 2024 and beyond!New and improved student suites, a genetics and reproduction building, and other exciting plans in the works!
