Position Summary

The Puppy Development Coordinator will assist the Puppy Department Director in carrying out the duties and responsibilities formulated by the Director of Training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This individual will assume full responsibility for the operation of the puppy department in the absence of the Puppy Department Director.  Includes all duties listed for the Puppy Department Director.  The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring the health and wellbeing of puppies by performing daily cleaning processes and enrichment activities.

  • Clearly and effectively communicating organizational objectives, both in writing and verbally, to donors, volunteers, and coworkers.

  • Under the direction of the Puppy Department Director, conduct obedience classes for volunteer raisers.

  • Ensuring compliance with all government and membership organizations.

  • Keep thorough and accurate documentation of all communications and business conducted on behalf of the department and/or the organization.

  • Operate the department within the budget approved by the Executive Director and the Director of Training.

  • Foster on-going and long-term relationships with potential and current volunteers.

  • Provide support to volunteers during the puppy raising process, including; providing guidance, answering questions, processing payment for medical services, providing supplies, and recommending medical intervention when advised.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School degree required, post-secondary education preferred.

  • Sensitivity to and ability to work around individuals who are visually impaired and service dogs – Guide Dogs.

  • Demonstrate the highest levels of honesty and integrity, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all duties.

  • Display a professional manner and positive behavior to all individuals encountered during work.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Pilot Dog’s insurance company.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with only general supervision.

  • Ability to recognize and report maintenance issues and safety hazards.

  • Ability to communicate via voice mail and e-mail.

  • Ability to follow and adhere to policies and procedures.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship Charity Ticket Program

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship Golf Tournament

August 31st-September 3rd, 2017

The tournament is held at The Ohio State University Golf Club, Scarlet Course. It is the third of four Tour Finals events that help determine which players will earn their PGA TOUR card.

As a reminder, grounds admissions for the tournament are FREE!  Pilot Dogs will earn $10 for each person who attends the event and presents our complimentary charity ticket at the entrance gate. Gates are staffed until 4 pm. One Ticket per person per day. 

Download and print the attached Charity Ticket for Pilot Dogs.  Email or print extra copies to give to your family, friends, and coworkers. It can be printed in black and white. 


The only rule is that charities may not distribute tickets within one mile of The Ohio State University Golf Course or within any of the event parking areas.  Any charity found distributing tickets in this way will be disqualified from the program for 2017.
